A Standing Ovation is a special reward program at benefitexpress that honors two employees who have gone above and beyond in fulfilling our Community Pillars.
Each Quarter, nominations are tallied, read, and carefully considered before being awarded at our company Town Hall meetings where the final nominations are read aloud to highlight just how much the winners have done to deserve the award. Aside from the recognition, each winner also receives a check for $2500.
Ewa has been with benefitexpress for 6 years. During her time here, we've gone from a team of less than 50 working in Arlington Heights to over 250 employees working in two locations with a robust remote team. Ewa was recently promoted to Custodial Accounting Supervisor, and that's where she's really made an impact. From one of the multiple nominations Ewa received:
Ewa has greatly streamlined the COBRA reconciliation process ... It is estimated that her work as part of our continuous improvement efforts saves at least 11 hours on branch reporting each month. She also streamlined one of our main data spreadsheets for the reconciliation, [saving] another eight hours each month. Ewa is currently re-engineering the weekly claims reporting process, which should lead to another four to eight hours saved for Accounting each month.
Ewa credits her ability to make these changes to her new position. "Before, I was doing my section of work and trying to improve whatever I could in it. When my position changed, I could see the bigger picture. I just figured out what could be improved and where we could avoid unnecessary steps." That ability to connect the dots and make a lasting impact on the way we do business is what made Ewa a natural choice for this Standing Ovation award.
When you have such great employees, you always want to know how to keep them (and attract more just like them). In this case, it's simple. "In most jobs, you get bored after a year or two. I've been here for 6 years, and I feel like I've grown with this company. I belong here."
