A Standing Ovation is a special reward program at benefitexpress that honors two employees who have gone above and beyond in fulfilling our Community Pillars. Each quarter, nominations are tallied, read, and carefully considered before being awarded at our company “Town Hall” all-staff meetings where the final nominations are read aloud to highlight just how much the winners have done to deserve the award. Aside from the recognition, each winner also receives a check for $2,500.
Russ Nasyrov, a junior software developer, wins the first Standing Ovation award for the second quarter at benefitexpress. The award is gathered from the positive feedback given directly from company employees through our “Cheers for Peers” program.
Initially starting his career at benefitexpress as an EDI support specialist, and gradually promoted to an EDI developer position, Russ has now been working with the company for five years.
Q. Why do you like working here?
A. benefitexpress provides me with the ability to learn and grow professionally within my field. Software development is still considered new science and requires continuous learning to cope with the (sometimes daily) changes. At benefitexpress, I have the tools I need to expand my knowledge and the tangible experience to become a relevant and valuable professional. In addition to learning all the "ins" and "outs" of benefit administration and EDI specifics, I've learned more about software development at benefitexpress than I learned while taking classes for my MIS degree!
I also enjoy working with my team because I can rely on any member, and they can rely on me. In fact, I would not have earned this award without them! Thank you to each member of my team, as well as my managers, who understand the importance of our work and support me and my team with wholehearted effort.
Q. What sets benefitexpress apart from other companies you’ve worked for in the past?
A. I like the company’s team-friendly atmosphere which is something I have rarely seen before. Many companies talk about it, benefitexpress embraces it. One thing that really stands out to me is how available senior developers make themselves to junior developers. They consistently prioritize my questions over their own projects. This type of culture has helped me grow quickly, and with far less obstacles.
Q. What motivates you?
A. Scientists think that motivation is a result of a dopamine release. I get dopamine when learning new things, being able to solve some complex software problems, or completing a project I have never done before. benefitexpress provides me with these challenges, daily, and that is what keeps me motivated.
To paint a better picture of the inspiring feedback Russ has received, here are just a few anonymous quotes from Russ’s peers:
“Russ is always willing and ready to lend a helping hand with a positive 'can-do' attitude."
“He never stops assisting anyone until he knows the project is successfully complete."
“His response times on any issue are one of the highest and he always provides such clear and detailed responses."
"Russ is committed to not only his internal team, but to the client themselves. He will work to find a creative solution if it will help resolve the clients concern."
"He will always support a client relationship manager and hop on a call to be the EDI expert whenever it is requested."
This type of positive feedback from the employees at benefitexpress makes it clear how deserving Russ is of the Standing Ovation award. The benefitexpress team is inspired by Russ’s work ethic and grateful to have him as part of our community. Congratulations, Russ!
