Connections 2018 is an annual customer conference hosted by Ultimate Software that brings together nearly 4,000 HR executives and industry influencers for the exclusive event. The conference includes collaborative breakout sessions led by subject-matter experts, reveals the latest technology advancements in software and products, hosts several inspiring keynote speakers, and much more.

Scott Evans, chief product officer, and Gina Ortiz, director of product strategy, were on the scene at this year's conference. We had the opportunity to chat with Scott and Gina about their experience. Continue reading to hear all about it!

Q. What was your favorite part about this conference? What were some highlights to mention?

A. The conference was stellar. We enjoyed the circuit experience that Ultimate offered to their clients, giving them the opportunity to see, learn and understand specific areas of their product. Our highlight was sharing with customers the in-depth benefits to payroll integration with UltiPro we're proud to be one of the very few benefit administration and enrollment software platforms invited to join their ecosystem. And of course, a big crowd-pleasing moment was country music star Kenny Chesney's performance for valued partners and customers.

Q. Can you tell us more about the integration between UltiPro® and My Benefit Express™?

A. Our connection with UltiPro is more than your standard integration. We are connecting My Benefit Express, our fully-outsourced benefits administration platform with UltiPro through the creation of our web-based API.

This provides much flexibility within the system. As a partner of Ultimate Software, we have the flexibility to tailor our solution to meet the needs of our clients. We understand that each client is different and with our API technology we have the opportunity, ability and responsibility to deliver the unique experiences.

That's why our API solution is designed to provide a seamless solution to employers for the complete HR process life cycle. This allows an employee change in one system to be made across all systems — from payroll, to benefits, employee tracking and ACA compliance — without requiring manual updates of multiple systems.

Q. Did anything interesting happen that you didn’t expect?

A. The excitement in the room when next year's performer was announced was electric — imagine Katy Perry greeting the crowd by video to share she will be performing at Ultimate’s conference next year! Outside of entertainment, the biggest highlight is client engagement with their products. Our company is proud to be benefit wise, relationship driven, so when we have the opportunity to attend conferences, trade shows and industry events, we love interacting with human resources professionals. Our goal is to help employers, brokers and consultants solve problems and make the benefits experience easier for everyone — especially employees. Many conversations we had at Connections allowed us to do just that.

We're looking forward to 2019 — and not just because of Katy! The future of our integrated products is exciting for the value it brings to customers.
